Jan DeAngelo, founder of Strong Finish Wellness

My story

Hi, I'm Jan.

Before I became a nurse coach, I was a mom searching for answers.

I'm a mom of four, and I know what it feels like to lie awake at night wondering how to help your child. My son changed almost overnight. Seemingly out of nowhere, he was struggling with OCD, ADHD, ODD, insomnia, and vocal and motor tics. He stopped eating and was down to only five safe foods. Then they told me he had autism. But I didn't understand why, so I dove into research.

We went from doctor to doctor, specialist to specialist, searching for answers. No one could tell me why my little boy had changed so drastically. I was told these things were normal for a four year old. I was offered antipsychotics for a four year old. My gut told me there had to be more to the story.

At the same time, my girls were dealing with eczema, bedwetting, anxiety, constant illnesses, mood swings, and insomnia. Something deeper was going on in our home, and no one was connecting the pieces.

So I started connecting them myself. I spent countless late nights researching, asking questions, and learning what our bodies were trying to tell us. Slowly, we changed our lifestyle. We tended to the foundations, nourishment, hydration, sleep, digestion, gentle movement, and calm rhythms at home. We reduced the toxic load in our home, our products, and our food.

Piece by piece, our family moved from surviving to thriving. My son no longer carries those diagnoses, and he no longer qualifies for an autism diagnosis. The tics, the insomnia, the food aversions, the sensory overwhelm, and the hyperactivity are no longer part of our daily life. My girls are thriving too.

That experience changed the course of my life. Today, I bring both my lived experience and my background as a registered nurse and nurse coach to families who need someone to listen, help make sense of the overwhelm, and guide them forward one safe step at a time.

In our work together, we look beyond the label and care for the whole child and the whole family. We tend to the foundations that help bodies feel safer: nourishment, hydration, sleep, digestion, gentle movement, and calm rhythms at home.

You are not failing. You are carrying a lot. You do not have to carry it alone.

The heart behind the name

Why Strong Finish

Growing up, whenever life felt hard or I was facing something I did not know how to overcome, my dad would always say the same words:

“Strong finish, kiddo. Strong finish.”

He said it when I played sports, when school felt difficult, when friendships hurt, and through every challenge that made me question whether I could keep going. His words have stayed with me throughout my entire life.

They taught me that strength is not about pretending something is easy. It is about having faith, persevering, and remembering that we are often capable of reaching deeper than we ever realized.

My dad passed away in 2013, exactly three weeks after he walked me down the aisle.

I miss him every day. But every time I say those words, I feel him here with me.

I named Strong Finish Wellness in his honor. His words are now the reminder I hope to offer every person who comes here:

You are stronger than you think.

You are capable.

You can keep going.

And you do not have to walk through the hard parts alone.

I am here to take your hand, remind you of what is still inside you, and walk beside you as you find your way toward greater safety, calm, peace, and healing.
